Aryna Sabalenka ended the season with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of Dominance

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.
