Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to take a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
