Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Hello, football fans. How are you? Alles klar I trust on this excellent early start to week 10 coming straight outta Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the capital city.
Pre-match Key Moments
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
In a similar vein the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have early drama after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
