Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
