Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial World Series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, the nation," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now hit 23 October home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another person anywhere that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their performance in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he added.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
